Treatment sessions with Dr Megan Stevens can include psychiatric medication (online), nutritional psychiatry advice (online) and online Yoga with Mindfulness Based Stress Reduction techniques.

MEDICATION

Dr Megan Stevens will discuss pros and cons of the available medications suitable for your health condition, she prescribes and follows up your medication for effectiveness, side effects and safety. These may include mood stabilisers, antidepressants, antipsychotics, medication for anxiety and insomnia, HRT, testosterone and vaginal preparations for menopausal symptoms. Blood tests may be required to monitor your physical health (additional charge).

NUTRITIONAL PSYCHIATRY

Dr Megan Stevens works with you to incorporate the essential 21 nutrients that are the foundation for brain health, brain protection and energy production in the brain. This includes discussing the current research on exactly what to eat and quantities to help manage mental health conditions and reach the recommended daily amounts for vitamins and minerals. She will discuss symptoms related to deficiencies and top food sources and how to incorporate these into your diet for: fats, zinc, vitamin B12, magnesium, vitamin B9, prebiotics and probiotics, proteins, vitamin E, vitamin K, vitamin A, vitamin D, selenium, iron, vitamin B1, choline, calcium, potassium, iodine, vitamin C, carotenoids and phytonutrients.

This entails a thorough discussion about your diet, as well as optional blood tests (additional charge) for B12, ferritin, folate, FBC, lipids (cholesterol, LDL, HDL, Non HDL, CHO:HDL ratio, TG), TSH, and vitamin D.

Recommended for patients who would like to work on relapse prevention, engage in medication free treatment plans, adopt a healthier diet and optimise their brain function to support their mental health. This intervention can be particularly helpful if you have struggled/are struggling with anxiety, low mood, brain fog, fatigue, low energy or irritability.

YOGA AND MINDFULNESS BASED STRESS REDUCTION

Dr Megan Stevens teaches patients how to achieve physical and mental control through the use of Yoga with Mindfulness Based Stress Reduction. Her aim is to help you understand the complex interaction between your body and mind and recognise early warning signer earlier, improve your resilience for managing stressful situations, sleep, anxiety, depression, weight gain, and pain tolerance.

This is accomplished through the use of biofeedback, the detailed teaching of grounding techniques, pranayama (breathing), and asanas (yoga postures). Asanas are tailored to each patient's physical health, strength, and flexibility. There is no requirement for prior Yoga knowledge.
 
Recommended for patients struggling with anxiety and depressive disorders, emotional lability, impulsivity, poor concentration, hyperactivity, perimenopause and menopause, weight management, insomnia, painful conditions, stress due to difficulties conceiving, during pregnancy and chronic stress.
